Your journey will begin with a visit to The Elms, which was formerly the flourishing Te Papa Mission Station where pioneering missionary, Archdeacon Brown, introduced the Maori to Christianity, reading, writing, agricultural and domestic skills. This traditional Georgian-style building is now a museum, showcasing the lives and possessions of the 3 generations who lived within its walls from 1847-1992. The manicured grounds are characterised by a massive oak tree on the north lawn, which was grown from an acorn carried from England in 1829. As you walk round this tranquil oasis it is easy to imagine you are back in the 19th century.

From The Elms, a scenic drive will bring you to the Te Puke and Rangiuru area, the kiwifruit capital of the world. As you drive through the lush orchards, your guide will provide an insight into the dynamic kiwifruit Industry and the complexities of the growing process. Discover how this unique pocket of land is able to grow the world’s healthiest fruit better than anywhere in the world. Finish your visit with a tasting of the green and gold kiwifruit before enjoying refreshments of tea or coffee, chilled kiwifruit juice, freshly baked scones with kiwifruit jam and freshly whipped cream.
