Travel to Le Site d’Autrefois, owned by Claude Bourgeois, a former captain who began fishing at the age of 15. A beautifully crafted model village housed beside classic buildings has realised Claude’s dream of showing visitors his story, traditional skills, and evolution of fisheries since the Acadians settled on the islands.

Next, you’ll head to the village of l’Étang des Caps; the only access to the Cap aux Meules Islands until 1955. Look out over ‘dead man’s islands’, a set of rocks where a number of ships were wrecked last century. Continue to historic La Grave on the southwest part of Havre Aubert Island. This unique historic site with its traditional character and architecture is a fascinating testament to the past. You’ll have some free time to explore the marina, browse the shops and perhaps purchase refreshments at one of the local cafés.

Visit The Artisans du Sable, a one of a kind studio and shop where sand from the islands is transformed into unique sculptures. Gain an insight into this fascinating form of creativity and perhaps purchase a souvenir.
Your return drive will take you via a stop at the spectacularly steep and jagged cliffs that house the Borgot Lighthouse. Keep your camera close to hand at the observation site around the tower, which offers spectacular coastal views.
