Departing from Livorno, drive south along Tuscan coast to the enchanting village of Bolgheri, a medieval hamlet encompassed by the lush green of the impressive Cypress trees, which line the road leading to the village.
The origins of the winery date back to 1500. Since then, it has been the property of the Counts of Gherardesca family. The farm extends around the winery for an area of 130 hectares, 50 of which are covered by vineyards; the rest is made up of areas cultivated with 6,000 olive plants and woodland.
The rich, fertile valleys amongst the vineyards of the Estruscan Coast produce some of the best wines in the Bolgheri region.
Once inside the winery, tantalize your taste buds with a unique Tuscan experience with a tasting of 2 super red Tuscan wines, complemented by olive oil, bread and salami.
Afterwards, you’ll have some free time to explore this charming hilltop village, with its winding streets and enticing shops and local restaurants. Bolgheri is a great place to spend some quality time indulging in personal tastes and unexpected curiosities.
This excursion operates by coach and on foot. The journey to Bolgheri is 1 hour each way. There is a slight incline of around 100 metres from the coach park to the village. There are 3 steps to enter the winery and approximately 30 steps to negotiate to the cellar (optional). Euros are accepted for purchases.
