Pre-register for assistance in an emergency
In an emergency, guests won’t be able to use the lifts. For guests who can’t independently reach their muster stations (which could be up or down several flights of stairs) due to disability, ill health or mental incapacity, P&O Cruises will provide an evacuation chair or one-to-one assistance.
Please note:
Before embarkation, you must pre-register to receive assistance to ensure we have enough crew allocated and for us to comply with our Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) requirements.
Please inform us by completing the on-board needs questionnaire or by contacting us. Even if you’re travelling with someone who can support you, you must still register for assistance, as that person may not be with you at the time of an emergency.
If you arrive at the terminal and require assistance in an emergency but have failed to disclose this requirement before, you may be denied boarding for safety reasons.
Evacuation chair
This is for guests who cannot use the stairs due to mobility or other circumstances. An evacuation chair is a mandatory requirement for anyone bringing a wheelchair or mobility scooter on board.
One-to-one assistance
This is mandatory for guests who need someone to guide and steady them on the stairs due to mobility or other circumstances. It’s also recommended for anyone bringing a mobility aid, like a walking stick or walker, on board.
