Famed for its deep blue waters, towering mountains and cascading waterfalls, Geirangerfjord is considered one of the most beautiful fjords in the world. As you sail through this UNESCO World Heritage Site, it's easy to imagine you're in a Norse fairytale. The mountains soar above you, up to 1,700 metres. The water drops to depth of 260 metres beneath your feet. And if you have a sense that there's something familiar about Geirangerfjord's scenery, it was the inspiration for Disney's movie, Frozen.
Geirangerfjord is one of nature’s masterpieces, the region is nature at its eye-popping, heart-stopping, take-your-breath-away best. The fjord basin curves between towering mountain peaks, making the fjord virtually free from wind (and making for a particularly pleasant kayaking experience). Paddle through the serene waters surrounded by steep mountain walls.
At the entrance of Geirangerfjord, is the city of Alesund which offers distinctive Art Nouveau architecture and cultural heritage. Nestled at the head of Geirangerfjord, is the small idyllic village of Geiranger offering stunning landscapes. The Norwegian Fjords also offers spectacular sights of more magnificent fjords including Sunnylvsfjorden, Storfjorden, Nordfjord and Innvikfjorden.
