Crane your neck to take in the splendour of the Al Fateh Mosque, Bahrain's largest place of worship. Built in 1984 with Italian marble, Austrian glass and Indian teak, it's crowned by the world's largest fibreglass dome and can accommodate over 7,000 worshippers. There are more wonders in the Bahrain National Museum, covering nearly 5,000 years of Bahrain's history. Traditional Bahranian crafts – including palm weaving, pottery and woodwork – are showcased at the Al Jasra Handicrafts Centre. And you can take a step back in time in Muharraq's old quarter, visiting the Shaik Bin Ali House for an insight into 19th-century royal life.
