St Lucia

Blessed with lush mountains, abundant flora and fauna, stunning beaches and turquoise waters, St Lucia is an island paradise and it's easy to see why it’s popular with honeymooners and celebrities – there is much to see and do. Sail around the iconic peaks of the Pitons, hike along the wonderful Jacquot Trail, take in the stunning views from the Soufrière Volcano and enjoy a relaxing mud bath at Sulphur Springs – to name a few. Writer Cheryl Markosky also recommends enjoying time out on one of the wonderful beaches in the Rodney Bay area, one of the liveliest destinations on the island.

The capital, Castries, is also a charming spot where you can check out the murals in the Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, unwind in Derek Walcott Square (named after the Nobel-prize-winning poet) and shop in the market for local handicrafts.

St Vincent

St Vincent is everything a couple’s Caribbean dream is made of. From peaceful and idyllic white sandy beaches and beautiful blue waters to lush rainforests, swaying palms and cascading waterfalls, there’s so much to explore. Plus, if all of this isn’t enough, venture off the beaten track on a catamaran trip to the nearby island of Bequia. Here, you can snorkel the clear blue waters and relax on the soft sands of Princess Margaret Beach – a day out made for couples' holidays.

Back on St Vincent, the capital – Kingstown – is a lively cultural hub that can be explored on foot. Head to Fort Charlotte, a former British Garrison built in the early 19th century, for an intriguing visit. Or visit the St Vincent & the Grenadines Botanical Gardens, which are full of native fruit trees and tropical plants as well as colourful local fauna including the rare St Vincent parrot. After exploring with your loved one, head to one of the local beach bars to sample local rum and cocktails.

Tortola

Recommended by writer Norman Miller and home to ancient ruins of historic settlements and modern townships, Tortola welcomes its arms to visitors whilst preserving its charm. The island is home to some of the most stunning white sand beaches in the world, inviting couples to take romantic strolls and refreshing dips in the clear waters. Why not try snorkelling at Lower Belmont Bay, where you’ll find the most amazing marine life?

The capital, Road Town, is delightful and compact. Take a walk down Main Street, where you’ll find a colourful crafts market and a range of small local shops selling Tortolan ceramics, Mexican glassware and sculptures made from sea flotsam. Whilst you’re in the capital, visit the Old Government House Museum, which provides insight into the history and culture of the Virgin Islands.
